General

What if my car has a poor-quality paint finish?

A deteriorating paint finish will struggle to hold a strong bond with our vacuum cups, if the paint is flaking or extremely chipped it may cause the vacuum to fail, although, this depends on the severity of the paint. 

Can I mount Solo to a wrapped car?

No, due to the strength of the vacuum cup if mounted to a vinyl wrapped car it could cause the vinyl to bubble, damaging the finish.

How fast can I drive with a Mount Evo mount/rack?

We’ve speed rated our mounts to comply with the British national speed limit (70mph max).

How should I store my mount/rack when not in use?

All mounts should be stored with the vacuum cup covers attached, what you do with it after that is up to you. Some customers store their mount under their boot floor next to their spare wheel, taking up no space whilst always having it with them. Our mounts are very compact which allows them to be stored efficiently and conveniently in lots of places.

Where are Mount Evo products made?

All Mount Evo products are made in Britain. See our ‘made in Britain’ section for more information.

What is the total vacuum hold time of each rack?

Our vacuum cups exceed 48 hours of vacuum, more than enough time for your journey. We recommend when you naturally come to a stop, to refuel your car or go for a toilet break to check the vacuum cups. Leaving a maximum time between checking of 6 hours.

Can the mounts get wet?

Yes, in fact when wet the vacuum cups work just as well. This means when you’re back from a cycle in the rain or a day of ski or surfing, our vacuum cups will work just as intended. Just ensure the surface is clean before applying.

Can the mounts be used in any temperature?

Yes, our racks will work as normal in temperatures typical of Europe. Our racks have been extensively tested in the Alps during winter and the peaks of summer in the south of France.

Can I share driving with friends?

Yes, Mount Evo racks are universal to all cars, so you can share driving with friends with ease.

Does my rack need to be on the car when not in use?

No, due to quick installation and removal you do not need your rack on your car when not in use. This saves you from dreaded wind noise as well as increasing MPG when not in use.

What is Modular?

Modularity is the ability to change your rack to suit your needs. From Cycling, Surfing and Skiing, modularity allows you to change your rack to accommodate other sports without the need of buying another full rack.



What is a modular base?

Every mount/rack in our range is available as a modular base. Our vacuum cups are cross-compatible to save you money. Once you have a Mount Evo rack you'll never need to buy another full rack again, just a modular base. This is because you can transfer your vacuum cups from one rack to another. Modular bases include everything you need without the vacuum cups.

What’s included with a modular base?

Everything except the vacuum cups. When ordering a modular base we make sure to include everything you need for the rack except vacuum cups.

Is every product modular?

Yes, every Mount Evo product is modular. You only need one mount to start saving.

What is the purpose of modular?

To save you money. Car racks can be expensive and if you do multiple sports this price is amplified. The idea behind modular is reduce the cost of transporting multiple sports.

How does modular work?

The vacuum cups from every mount we offer can be transferred from one rack to another. Once you own a Mount Evo rack you’ll never need to buy another full rack again, just a modular base. You’ll then be able to transfer cups between your racks.

I already own a Mount Evo mount, can I buy a modular base?

Yes, just select the modular base you require along with any extra vacuum cups you may need.

I don’t own a full mount, can I buy a modular base?

No, Modular Bases do not have vacuum cups. You will need to already own a Mount Evo rack to purchase a modular base.

Maintenance

Do I need to clean or maintain my mount/rack?

A clean mount is a strong mount. The strongest bond between car and mount is achieved when both surfaces are clean. Over time dirt and road grime may build up on or around your mount. When this happens wash Solo using warm soapy water, avoid using any chemicals as this may damage the rubber of the vacuum cup. When not in use make sure to attach the vacuum cup covers, this stops the cups deforming over time and also helps avoid dirt building up on the inside of the cup. Vacuum Cups

How long does the vacuum last?

Our vacuum cups exceed 48 hours of vacuum, more than enough time for your journey. We recommend when you naturally come to a stop, to refuel your car or go for a toilet break to check the vacuum cups. Leaving a maximum time between checking of 6 hours.

How strong are the vacuum cups?

Each vacuum cup is rated to 100kg of force. Depending on your mount you’ll have either 4-8 vacuum cups across your load. Solo will have a combined rating of 400kg, whilst Tidal will have 600kg. This will provide a very strong and safe bond to your car. Our vacuum cups are used in the transportation and installation of high rise building windowpanes.

Which surfaces do the vacuum cups work on?

Anything smooth or painted. The list of surfaces the vacuum cups work on is endless, the most common on cars will be painted body, glass, and lacquered carbon fibre.

Will the vacuum cups damage my car?

No, we strongly advice you thoroughly clean the surface before applying a mount, this helps promote a stronger bond and avoids any damage. The only part of our mounts that comes into contact with the car is the soft rubber vacuum cup.

How reliable are the vacuum cups?

The vacuum cups are very reliable, they are used to transport and manoeuvre glass. We also use far more vacuum cups than necessary to secure the
load.

Will the vacuum cups work in the rain and snow?

Yes, in fact when wet the vacuum cups work just as well. This means when you’re back from a cycle in the rain or a day of ski or surfing, our vacuum cups will work just as intended. Just ensure the surface is clean before applying. 

What are the differences between suction cups and vacuum cups?

The differences between a suction cup and vacuum cup are huge. A vacuum cup is made to industrial standards with the intended use of transporting glass. Vacuum cups have a plunger to create the vacuum and the seal cannot be broken until you decide to lift the edge of the cup. Our vacuum cups can also withstand the force of 100kg’s each.

A suction cup is something you would typically use to hang your toiletries in the shower, which will inevitably fall down. Suction cups usually are not very strong or reliable.

Cycling - General

Will my bike be compatible with Solo/Duo/E-Solo?

Yes, our racks are compatible with the majority of bikes. We use a through axel fork mount which is compatible with quick release wheels. Your order will include adaptors for 5x100 quick release as well as 12x100, 15x100 and 15x110 through axel fitments. This caters for the majority of bikes.

Where should I mount my bike(s)?

Our mounts are extremely versatile, you can position it on the roof in the centre, left, right, using the sun roof, windscreen or even on the rear window with your bike hanging from the rear hatch.

How do I stop the pedals from hitting the roof?

With your bike mount you will be supplied with a hook and loop strap for securing the cranks to the frame. This will stop them spinning whilst driving and prevent any damage from being caused.

Will Solo/Duo/E-Solo fit my car?

Does Solo/Duo/E-Solo work with any bike type?

Yes, any bike type! Road, MTB, Gravel, BMX, etc.

Is Solo/Duo/E-Solo suitable for carbon bike frames?

Mount Evo bike racks are ideal for carbon frames as it is mounted via the bike’s forks. Carbon frames will be damaged if clamped like traditional bike racks.

Do the bikes need to be facing forwards?

Yes, when mounting bikes with Solo/Duo/E-Solo the bike must always be facing forwards.

What if I have lefty forks?

This is not an issue for our bike racks. You will need a lefty fork adaptor you use your bike with our racks.

Can I use my bike rack with multiple different cars?

Yes, our racks are universal, allowing you to use any of your cars without the need of fitting kits or roof bars.

What is the weight limit forSolo?

The maximum bike weight permitted for Solo is 20kg. Bear in mind the front wheel will be removed which will lower your bikes weight. If your bike is greater than 20kg, E-Solo has an increased weight limit of 35kg.

What is the vacuum hold for Solo?

The vacuum hold for Solo is 400kg (4 vacuum cups rated to 100kg each).

The maximum bike weight permitted for E-Solo is 35kg. Bear in mind the front wheel will be removed which will lower your bikes weight.

Can I use E-Solo with non e-bikes?

Absolutely, E-Solo is for any bike up to 35kg, not just e-bikes.

What is the vacuum hold for E-Solo?

The vacuum hold for E-Solo is 600kg (6 vacuum cups rated to 100kg each).

Yes, we ship worldwide and to the EU. If your country/currency isn’t available at check out please get in touch and a member of the team will be more than happy to help complete your order.

Who is your shipping provider?

We ship all domestic and international orders using UPS. Domestic orders are shipped free of charge. Next day and Saturday delivery can be selected at checkout also. 

What is the delivery cut off time?

Next day delivery cut off is 15:00 GMT. We will however attempt to despatch orders same day if placed after this time but cannot guarantee the service. Please get in touch if you have any special requirements.

Can I return my order?
